SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A fire that started from a grill explosion on a second-level deck on Sunday is under investigation, according to Sioux Falls Fire Rescue.
Crews were called to the 4600 block of West Custer Lane at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025. Metro Communications advised that a grill had exploded.
Upon arrival, crews reported light fire and smoke conditions. The fire was extinguished from the outside. All occupants were reported to be out of the structure.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue personnel conducted an interior search to ensure there were no occupants and that the fire did not spread. One resident was seen for a minor injury.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with five fire trucks, one support vehicle and 20 personnel. The Sioux Falls Police Department, PCEMS and Metro Communications also assisted on the call.
