RAPID CITY, S.D. – A community fundraiser supporting cancer patients across South Dakota has surged past the $64,000 mark, with the weekly “Chase the Pink Ace” event drawing crowds and raising funds for direct financial assistance.
The fundraiser, which takes place every Thursday at 8:08 p.m. at the Last Chance Saloon inside Al’s Oasis in Oacoma, has reached a total of $64,558.00 and is continuing to grow, according to an announcement on October 11, 2025.
The event is organized by Team Buche Cares, which provides financial support to local cancer patients for treatment and related expenses. To date, the organization has assisted 128 patients in 33 South Dakota communities.
The structure of the game provides multiple ways for participants to win while contributing to the cause. If the coveted Ace is not drawn, the winning participant receives 10 percent of that week’s earnings. Furthermore, if they are physically present at the Last Chance Saloon for the drawing, they also receive a Buche Foods Shopping Spree.
Seven winners have so far claimed Shopping Sprees, which can be used at any Buche Foods store, with the average prize valued at $417.58 just for attending the drawing.
RF Buche, founder of Team Buche Cares, noted the significance of the fundraising milestone. “This milestone reflects the generosity and spirit of our community,” Buche said. “Every card turned and every participant present makes a real difference and creates lasting memories.”
Cancer patients seeking financial assistance can apply directly through the Team Buche Cares website. The application process requires visiting www.teambuchecares.org, clicking “Need Assistance?”, selecting “Cancer Assistance Application,” and completing the form.
Tickets for the ongoing “Chase the Pink Ace” drawing are available online at www.chasethepinkace.org or at any of the businesses located within the Al’s Oasis Plaza. The drawing is streamed live on the Last Chance Saloon’s Facebook page for those who wish to tune in.
