RAPID CITY, S.D. – Black Hills and Rapid City based commercial producers were among the top honorees at the 2025 South Dakota Broadcasters Association (SDBA) Gary Owens Commercial Production Awards. The annual awards were presented during the SDBA’s state leadership conference, which took place September 15-16 in Sioux Falls.

Winners were recognized in both radio and television categories, with first and second place recipients receiving a cash prize and an award of recognition.

In the Radio Category, April Goodhart of Riverfront Broadcasting Black Hills secured first place. Scott Smith of Results Townsquare Media in Sioux Falls earned second place honors for his radio commercial production.

Rapid City talent swept the Television Category awards. Grant Hultgren of KOTA-TV / KEVN-TV in Rapid City received first place, and Joshua Canaday, also of KOTA-TV / KEVN-TV, took home second place honors.

Eligibility for the awards required commercials to have aired a minimum of ten times on an SDBA member station within the past year. All submissions had to be produced by a full-time employee of the station for one of their advertisers.

The South Dakota Broadcasters Association is a trade association dedicated to representing South Dakota’s radio and television stations, offering education, regulatory assistance, and legislative representation to its members.
