Rapid City, SD – Early Sunday morning, emergency responders were called to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Highway 44 West, near the intersection with Thunderhead Falls Road.

At approximately 3:00 AM on April 20th, the Johnson Siding Fire Department (JSFD) and Rapid City Fire Department Medic 5 were dispatched following reports of a vehicle collision with injuries.

According to initial reports, the single occupant of the vehicle stated they swerved to avoid a deer, resulting in a loss of control. The vehicle subsequently entered a ditch, traveled up an embankment, and then crossed back over the highway, coming to a stop near the aforementioned intersection.

Firefighters also undertook traffic control measures to ensure the safety of other motorists passing through the area. Additionally, JSFD crews worked to clear fluids and other debris that had scattered across the roadway as a result of the accident.
