
CASPER, Wyo. – The Black Hills State University men’s and women’s rodeo team continued competition at the 2025 College National Finals Rodeo on Thursday night at the Ford Wyoming Center.
Emma Ohm and Jess Harper were in action in the third round of breakaway roping and team roping, while despite not making a run tonight, Sierra Steele maintained a spot within the top-12 of barrel racing and remains hopeful to advance to short go finals on Saturday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN’S RODEO
- The team roping pair of Jess Harper and Colton Zubach (Dickinson State) made their final run of the season on Thursday night and were unable to record a time for the third round and the week as they concluded their first appearances at the CNFR.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN’S RODEO
- Competing for the final time this season in breakaway roping, the Great Plains Region champion, Emma Ohm was unable to record a time for the third round and the week as her season came to a close at the CNFR.
- Following Thursday night’s barrel racing and with one section of 11 cowgirls remaining in Friday night’s performance, Sierra Steele holds down the 12th and final spot to advance to the short go finals in the event. She recorded an overall time of 43.96 seconds on three go arounds this week.
UP NEXT
Only one athlete will compete for Black Hills State during the Friday night performance at 7 p.m. on ESPN3, and that will be Raylee Fagerhaug in goat tying. She will make her third go around in the event in section four, being the second to go in the section and 42nd overall to go.
