Witnesses Help in Hit & Run Arrest in Box Elder

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man was arrested Tuesday after police say he was huffing air duster while driving a stolen vehicle, hitting multiple cars near Rushmore Crossing before being apprehended in Box Elder.

According to a press release from the Rapid City Police Department, officers received multiple reports around 4:40 p.m. on August 5 of a vehicle driving erratically and striking other vehicles. Witnesses provided a license plate number for a Buick LeSabre, which police later determined was stolen.

The vehicle was eventually located in Box Elder by the Box Elder Police Department. Trent Richardblakey, 35, of Rapid City, was found in the stolen car and was reportedly huffing air duster. He was placed under arrest and faces charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Reckless Driving. He was booked into the Pennington Jail at 8:05pm.
