RAPID CITY, S.D. – The changing season is bringing the annual closure of most public park restrooms in Rapid City, a clear sign the Black Hills area is bracing for winter.
The year-round restroom facilities at Skyline Wilderness Park, Founders Park, and Canyon Lake-West will switch to winter hours, operating from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. These facilities will also be closed during inclement weather. The Memorial Park bandshell facility will be secured and closed for the winter season starting in mid-October, with the stage opened only for scheduled events. Restroom facilities across the Rapid City park system are scheduled to remain closed throughout the winter until May 1.
Portable restroom facilities will continue to be available throughout the winter season at several park locations, including Canyon Lake Shelter #3, Braeburn Park, LaCroix Park, the West Fulton trailhead, the Robbinsdale Park walking path, and Jackson Park.
