The Weekend Rundown

Hey hey, Rapid City — the weekend is here, and it’s revved, ready, and hotter than a July sidewalk!

Cruise Into Friday
Start your weekend engines with Cruise 8th on Mount Rushmore Road this Friday at 6 PM. It’s 3.7 miles of chrome, curves, and cool cars — from vintage classics to modern muscle. Registration is totally free at 215 Mount Rushmore Road, with judging until 7:45 PM and $250 in prizes, including a Best in Show award announced at 7:50.
But remember: keep it classy, not sassy. No burnouts or engine revs — violators could face a Class 2 misdemeanor. Proceeds go to local beautification projects like sidewalk maintenance and Wilson Park lighting.

Ladies, Let’s Glow
Next stop: HOT TO GO: A Hot Girl Summer Night at Generations Weddings from 6 to 9 PM. This one’s for the girls — featuring sunless tans, Botox touchups, boutique shopping, food trucks, and a trucker hat patch bar that’s as fun as it sounds. With over a dozen local vendors and a massive gift basket giveaway, this is your chance to shine (literally).

Live Music Friday Vibes
Cap off your Friday with Trampled by Turtles at The Monument. The beloved bluegrass-rock band from Duluth brings their signature sound for a night of twang, harmony, and foot-stomping fun.

Saturday: Seafood, Show Cars & Soulful Sounds
Dakota Seafood celebrates a decade of delicious with a 10-Year Anniversary Crab Boil from 3 to 6 PM. Get your bibs ready — claws will be cracked and stomachs satisfied.

Or, for more gearhead glory, cruise over to The Third Annual Car Show at The Park, also from 3 to 6 PM. No registration required — just roll in, show off your ride, and stick around for awards at 6 PM inside the venue.

Hills Alive Turns 40
Memorial Park plays host to Hills Alive, a weekend-long celebration of faith, family, and music. It’s the festival’s 40th anniversary, featuring national acts like Crowder, Sidewalk Prophets, Unspoken, and many more. Expect food trucks, fun zones, and powerful performances that lift your spirits.

Saturday Night Soundtrack
When the sun sets, the city gets louder. Head to Lost Cabin After Dark for high-octane energy from Denver’s Burning Sister with local rockers Easy Light starting at 8 PM.

Prefer something smoother? Kick back with Black Hills Soul live on the Murphy’s Patio Series, where good vibes and groove meet under the stars.
