RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — Western Dakota Technical College (WDTC) has appointed two new members to its Board of Trustees.
Kirk Easton, superintendent of the Spearfish School District, and Jeff Rieckman, superintendent of the Haakon School District, have joined the board. Additionally, Mike Roesler, a former Rapid City Area Schools Board president and retired firefighter, has been reappointed. The board elected Roesler as vice chair during its July meeting.
Dr. Steve Willard, a retired superintendent of the Belle Fourche School District, was re-elected as chair. Willard had previously served as acting president of the college.
WDTC also recognized two departing members, Tom Brunner and Brad Heltzel, who both served on the board since 2020. Brunner, a farmer and former state representative, was vice chair from 2020-21 and chair from 2021-22. Heltzel is a plant superintendent at Scotchman Industries.
“We are grateful for the leadership and commitment of Tom Brunner and Brad Heltzel,” WDTC President Dr. Kendra Ericson said in a statement. “We look forward to the expertise and perspectives that Kirk Easton and Jeff Rieckman bring as we continue to expand opportunities for students, collaborate with area high schools, and strengthen workforce partnerships across the region.”
