WASTA, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) has announced a continuation of planned infrastructure upgrades along Interstate 90 near Wasta.

After the successful completion of sanitary sewer upgrades on the eastbound side, which is set to reopen Monday, April 14, 2025, attention now shifts to the westbound Wasta Rest Area. Beginning the same day, April 14, the westbound facility will close to allow for similar improvements.

The project is expected to take approximately one month to complete. During this period, travelers are encouraged to plan accordingly and utilize alternate rest areas or accommodations along the route.

These upgrades are part of a broader effort to modernize and maintain vital roadside facilities that support South Dakota’s growing transportation needs. The SDDOT appreciates the public’s patience during the temporary closure.
