STURGIS, S.D. – Tuesday, April 8, is municipal election day in several Black Hills area communities.
In Sturgis, there is a race in two of the four city wards.
Mark Chaplin and Dave Murtha will face off in Ward 3, and Terry Jensen and Steve Shuck will vie for the Ward 4 seat.
In Deadwood, there is a race for mayor and school board. Running for mayor are Blake Joseph and Charlie Struble-Mook. Running for an opening on the Lead-Deadwood School Board are Tim Madsen, Robin Lucero and Amber Vogt.
In Lead, there is a race for mayor between Eddie Munoz and Dustin Huepel. Lead voters will also vote on an assessment passed by the city commission which will allow for the assessment and levy of the Annual Special Maintenance Fee of $120 that would be used for the purpose of repairing and maintain the city’s public infrastructure.
In Spearfish, there are races for council and mayor.
On the ballot in Ward 1 will be incumbent Marty Clark, Raeann Mettler, and Dean Myers.
On the ballot in Ward 2 will be incumbent Larry Klarenbeek and Victoria Greenlee.
On the ballot in Ward 3 will be incumbent Ana Rath and Michaela Madrid.
On the ballot for Mayor will be incumbent John Senden and Micah Peters.
In Belle Fourche, there are two council races in Ward 1 and Ward 1. Kristal Steeves and Ivy zimmerschied are on the ballot in Ward 1 with James “Clark” Sowers and Lee Capp battling in Ward 2.
In Faith, there is a race for mayor between incumbent Glen Haines and challenger Levi Haefner. There is also a race between Justin Haines, Scott Vance and Kandance Veite for a three year term on the school board.
And, in Whitewood, there are races in both city wards. In Ward 1, Randal Wiege is challenging Shelbi Bulat and in Ward 2, it’s Raymond Huseby and Monica Burke.
