BOX ELDER, S.D. – Area cross country runners opened the 2025 season at the Douglas Early Bird held at Prairie Ridge Golf Course Friday.
Tate Van Beek of Rapid City Stevens won the boys race in a time of 15:51.25. Tate Grabow of Hill City was second with Evan Perrigo of Stevens claiming third. Wyatt Balliew of Douglas and Torin Jackson of Stevens rounded out the top five.
Taylor Colunga was the top placing Sturgis Scooper, finishing in 7th place.
Winning the girls race in a time of 18:55.95 was Kori Keil of Spearfish. Kadance Holso of Stevens was second with two of her teammates, Brinna Sheldon and Evelyn Hurley, finishing in third and fourth. Kira Ubence of Douglas rounded out the top five.
Top placing Scooper was Lucy Hamer in tenth.
