SUNDANCE, Wyo. – Crook County authorities on Monday issued an update in the search for a missing St Onge woman.
Linda Thacker has been missing since the afternoon of August 18. She was officially reported as missing to law enforcement on August 19, and her vehicle was later found in the Boundary Gulch area of Wyoming that same day.

Since then, extensive search efforts have been ongoing, involving multiple search and rescue teams from Wyoming and South Dakota. Resources deployed include Lakota and Blackhawk helicopters, six specialized K-9 teams (scent, cadaver, and man-tracking dogs), drones equipped with thermal imaging, and certified human trackers from various agencies.
The search area is extremely rugged, with thick vegetation and difficult terrain. These conditions significantly hinder both aerial and ground search operations.
As of today, three K-9 teams remain actively deployed in the area, with plans to continue operations into tomorrow.
The Crook County Sheriff’s Office and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office are conducting a joint investigation. They are actively following up on information obtained through cell phone records, interviews with family, and other leads.
There are circumstances surrounding this case that suggest Mrs. Thacker may not wish to be found. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
If anyone has information regarding this case, please contact the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office or the Crook County Sheriff’s Office.
