Unattended death investigation in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Police Department is investigating the death of a 63-year-old man who was found unresponsive on November 23 between Walmart and Rushmore Crossing.

Around 3:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to an area between Walmart and 825 Eglin Street following a report of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, police located the individual, identified as Pete Redl of Rapid City, and determined he was deceased.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Redl’s death may have been related to a medical issue, though an autopsy has been scheduled as part of the ongoing inquiry.

RCPD is continuing to investigate the incident.
