RAPID CITY, SD โ€” After installation this morning, sitting US president Donald J. Trump has become the first sitting president in Rapid City history to have his likeness installed as a part of the “City of Presidents” in downtown Rapid.

First unveiled in an indoor display last May, the statue has now found its place parallel to Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, and George Washington, and in the former place of Andrew Johnson, who was relocated during the construction of the Block 5 Complex, which Trump’s statue now sits in the shade of.

Though this may come as a surprise to some, as often such statues are not created until after a sitting president has left office, the statue stands as an exception due to the incumbent president’s nonconsecutive terms of office. The statue comes as an addition to the walk by local artist Jim Maher, who is responsible for the design of eleven more presidential statues in the walk.

A statue of former president Joe Biden is expected to be completed within the next two years.
