
STURGIS, S.D. – Woodle Field in Sturgis hosted the Black Hills Classic on Saturday.
The Stevens High School girls track and field team set a new state record in the 4×100-meter relay at the event
The team of Maya Khachikian, Riley Willet, Ava Holzwarth, and Ella Bradeen clocked a time of 47.68 seconds at Woodle Field.
The performance broke the previous state record.
In other action on the women’s side, Ella Bradeen of Stevens captured the 100 meters while her teammate Avery Dormann won the 800 meters.
Belle Fourche won the 4×200 meter relay with Spearfish winning the 4×400 and the 1,600 medley.
On the men’s side, Rush O’Neill of Bennett County was a double event winner, taking both the 100 and 200 meters. Meanwhile, a pair of Stevens’ Raiders won the 400 and 800. Miles Brekhus won the 400 with Tate Van Beek winning the 800.
In the relay races, Stevens won the 4×100, the 4×200 and the 4×400. Sturgis captured the 4×800.
Elias Gillen of Stevens was a double event winner, claiming both the shot put and discus throw.
