RAPID CITY, S.D. – In prep soccer Thursday, the Sturgis Scooper Girls Soccer team ran away from Douglas/New Underwood earning an 11-1 win.
The Scooper boys game, however, was postponed due to lightning. The score was 0-0 at the half. A make up date has yet to be announced.
Elsewhere, third-ranked Rapid City Stevens improved to 8–1-1 on the season with a 5-1 win over rival Rapid City Central Thursday at Sioux Park Stadium.
Ravi Moreland and Trent Policky had two goals each for the Raiders. Miles Wright opened the scoring early for Stevens, fielding a cross pass from teammate Josh Mueller and finding net in the second minute of action.
Creed Tennyson had five saves and Deiondre Honomichl had a key defender save for the Raiders.
Marcus Callahan had seven saves for the Cobblers, which found net on a goal by Tate Winter to pull within 2-1 in the 34th minute.
Meanwhile, the girls soccer match between Rapid City Central and Stevens on Thursday lasted for 40 minutes before the weather had the final say.
The match was stopped at halftime with it tied at 1-1 due to rain and lightning. The game is scheduled to be made up on Saturday, September 13.
