RAPID CITY, SD — At 9:35am a silver vehicle was reported at the McDonalds at 804 E. North Street following the alleged solicitation in which those within the vehicle attempted to sell illegal substances to those leaving the restaurant.
Police were quickly able to locate the vehicle based on license plate and attempted to initiate a stop, however the vehicle instead took off at high speed, leading to a high speed chase between police and suspect. “At one point, the suspect vehicle sideswiped another vehicle in traffic,” said the RCPD in a statement following the incident, who reported no injuries as a result of the collision.
“The pursuit was ultimately terminated, however, officers observed the vehicle stop in the 400 block of E. Fairlane Drive. Two occupants were detained as police searched the area for the driver and a fourth occupant of the vehicle,” said RCPD’s Brendyn Medina. Police soon found the missing individuals hiding in a nearby apartment.
Danialle Longsoldier of Wanblee (33) was located in the apartment with driver Josslyn Lamont of Pierre (27), who was determined to be the alleged perpetrator of the original deal. A search of her bag resulted in the discovery of a number of illegal substances. Lamont was arrested on counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Eluding, Driving without a Valid License, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, No Proof of Insurance, Stop Sign Violation, Failure to Obey a Traffic Signal, and three Warrants.
Longsoldier was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant, and Charlsie Mettler of Wasta (33), the only passenger with the vehicle who was ultimately arrested according to the RCPD, was detained under a parole hold.
