Rapid City, SD – When it comes to the heart of any team, you don’t have to look far to find it. It’s a group with shared values and an emotional connection that binds them together. There’s a feeling of belonging and the responsibility of having a shared purpose. In Rapid City, this group can be found in the concourses and seats of The Monument, cheering on their team: Rush Nation. These men, women, and families share a deep love and passion for the Rapid City Rush.

As Ashley Noel states, “For me, it’s about having a team to love and believe in. To have somewhere to go every other weekend and feel welcomed and know you’re wanted there. And having something to bond with my mom and dad over.”

Season ticket holders Jon and Delta Maruszewski echo the sentiment of family unity in Rush hockey. “On what Rush means to my husband and I: We have been season ticket holders for the last 2 years. My husband retired from the Navy two years ago, and we got season tickets after he retired. His last duty station was 18 months unaccompanied, so him coming back and us getting involved in Rush hockey was such a joy for us. It is great getting to go to all the games and have fun together with such a great team. We love the Rush!”

A rising contributor on the Rapid City Rush fan page Facebook group, shares what being part of Rush Nation means to him: “I love this team more than any other sports team I root for. They’re just inspiring with how they play; they don’t quit, and they work hard every day. Just a motivated team.”

Darling Rosie further elaborates on how the team and their fans are bound together: “Put me down for being a giant Rush fan and believing in this team day after day. It’s all about getting better, and they have been. Next year, we’re playoff bound!”

The commitment and motivation of fans to the Rapid City Rush is further evidenced by the inclusion of Rush Nation members in team member Parker Bowman’s and his fiancée Alexandra Dugas’s Stag and Doe party in Ontario, Canada. Parker’s mother, Debbie Bowman, wrote, “Your kindness and support, whether by message, memory, or virtual ticket, means the world to us. Thanks for being such a big part of his journey.”

It is undeniable: Rush Nation is chosen family.
