South Dakota Senator Proposes Bill Requiring Ten Commandments to Be Posted and Taught in Public Schools

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Police Department responded to two incidents involving impaired drivers over the weekend, resulting in arrests for both individuals. The first incident happened on Saturday when officers arrested 36-year-old Christopher Gentry after a vehicle crash within Memorial Park. The second incident happened on Sunday, after officers discovered a crashed pickup truck in the area of 5th Street and E. Stumer Road. As police approached the driver’s seat, they observed the driver inhaling air duster from a can before passing out. Despite multiple attempts to communicate, the driver—32-year-old Keeva Grass of Whitewood—attempted to flee by putting the truck in drive. The vehicle remained immobilized by snow and a street sign it had struck. Grass then put the vehicle in reverse, prompting the responding officer to pin the truck with their patrol car. Grass was eventually removed from the truck and arrested for DUI and other charges.

Firefighters deploy widely as strong winds threaten more Los Angeles neighborhoods

LOS ANGELES — A beefed-up firefighting force is staged around Los Angeles to attack flare-ups or new blazes. And anxious residents prepared for more fire danger Tuesday as strong winds kicked up again, a week after massive infernos destroyed thousands of homes and killed at least 24 people. Planes that drop firefighting chemicals and crews ready to pounce on hotspots are positioned across the city. Dozens of water trucks are in place to replenish supplies after hydrants ran dry last week. LA County’s fire chief says crews are better prepared but warns that everyone in the potential fire zones should be ready to evacuate.

Palestinian health officials say Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip have killed at least 18 people overnight, including women and children. The fresh attacks came as Israel and Hamas appeared to be narrowing in on a ceasefire deal to end the 15-month war and release dozens of hostages. Hospitals in Gaza say the fatalities in two strikes in the central Gaza city included two women and their four children, who ranged in age from 1 month to 9 years old. Another 12 people were reported killed in two strikes on the southern city of Khan Younis.

Ukraine carried out a significant overnight attack on Russian regions using drones and missiles, damaging at least two factories and prompting school closures in a major southern Russian city, according to Russian officials and media reports. The Shot Telegram channel claimed that Russia intercepted more than 200 Ukrainian drones and five U.S.-made ATACMS ballistic missiles. Alexander Bogomaz, governor of the Bryansk region in western Russia, confirmed a major missile attack but did not specify the type of missiles used. In Engels, a city hosting a Russian air base for nuclear bombers, Saratov Governor Roman Busargin reported that a drone struck an industrial enterprise, though details were not disclosed. The Russian defense ministry has yet to comment, and Reuters could not independently verify the claims.
