Kindness doesn’t always happen in front of a camera or with a round of applause. Sometimes it happens in the quiet lanes of a grocery store, when someone simply listens to their heart and chooses to act.
Patrick O Brady III shared this story with us. It’s a moment that stuck with him, and now it’s one we’re honored to share with you:
“I was behind a gal in the grocery store in Summerset a few years ago. The gal in front of me kept getting her cards declined. She was frustrated and walked out to call her bank.
So I paid for all her groceries while she was gone. The cashier almost cried. I guess she knew the gal and knows she always has money issues and trouble feeding her kids.
I had money from selling my house. It didn’t hurt me one bit, but my son was 5 months old at the time and I knew I needed to help.”
Sometimes the most meaningful acts are the ones done without credit or expectation, simply because it is the right thing to do. Thank you, Patrick, for stepping up and reminding us that compassion and courage can turn someone’s entire day, or even their life, around.
