Sioux Falls, SD — Black Hills Playhouse Education, in collaboration with DakotAbilities, invites the public to
experience two special performances of The Three Musketeers and the Very Pretty Diamonds by David
Neilsen on May 1 and 2 at 1:00 PM, hosted at the Longfellow Center in Sioux Falls. These performances are
part of The Expanding Stage, a transformative Black Hills Playhouse Education program that empowers
individuals of all ages and abilities through inclusive theatre.
Black Hills Playhouse teaching artists bring energy, laughter, and creativity to DakotAbilities, working closely
with adults with disabilities. This groundbreaking theatre program offers participants the chance to explore their
creativity, build communication and performance skills, and gain confidence in expressing themselves through
the arts. Each participant’s input shapes the final performance, making it a truly collaborative and personalized
experience.
The Three Musketeers and the Very Pretty Diamonds by David Neilsen is a comedic, farcical adaptation of the
classic story, with elements of English pantomime. The play features exaggerated characters and slapstick
humor. It revolves around D’Artagnan’s journey to join the Musketeers, while embroiled in a plot involving a
necklace of “very pretty diamonds.” Rehearsals are currently underway! The chance to perform in front of a live
audience provides a platform for participants to shine on stage, supported by family, friends, and the broader
community.
“These productions put such a bright smile on the faces of everyone involved, including me,” shared Deb
Workman, Education Artistic Director for Black Hills Playhouse. “Having the chance to see these artists come
out of their shells is a real gift. We are so proud to do this work through Expanding Stage.”
Both performances are free and open to the public. However, seating is limited, and the shows often fill up
quickly, so early arrival is recommended to secure a spot. For more information about The Expanding Stage
