Rapid City, SD – May 13, 2025 – Join us for a colorful celebration at our Summer Reading Kickoff Party on Saturday, May 17, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the library’s upstairs area! This art-themed event includes creative crafts, fun games, and interactive activities, featuring special guests SDPB and the Rapid City Arts Council.
Kids can explore hands-on stations, learn about global artists, and even “paint” their own Rice Krispies Treats at our snack station. It’s the perfect way to kick off a summer of reading, creativity, and discovery!
Once children have their reading logs or sign up to track with the Beanstack app, they can begin reading for 15 minutes a day starting June 1. For each week of reading they track, they’ll earn a bead for their reading keychain and a virtual ticket for our end-of-summer prize drawing. Keep kids engaged, learning, and prepared for the next school year while minimizing summer learning loss through Summer Reading!
