STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Police Department has released its Monday Rally Report, and it was busy day for law enforcement.
Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vandewater says law enforcement made 7 D.U.I. arrests in the latest reporting period, along with 5 misdemeanor drug arrests and 7 felony drug arrests. Year-to-date D.U.I. numbers are 29 with drug arrests totaling 52. All numbers are ahead of last year.
Police also responded to 4 fight calls, one domestic disturbance call, handed out three citations for weapons violation but issued no illegal parking citations Monday. That keeps the year-to-date parking violations at 51.
Sturgis Police also responded to one injury accident and 4 non-injury accidents in town Monday.
Police reported 48 non-traffic arrests Monday, sending the year to date total to 86, down 38 from last year. There were 70 traffic-related arrests Monday, sending the yearly total to 129, which is down 59 from last year.
Seventeen people were booked into the Meade County Jail Monday, sending the year-to-date total to 63.
