STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office has announced that Investigator Chris Williams has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
Sgt. Williams, a lifelong Meade County resident, has proudly served our community for over 20 years. Starting as a Patrol Deputy in 2004 and later stepping up as Investigator, he’s been instrumental in solving major cases across western South Dakota. As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Sgt. Williams is known for his professionalism, strong leadership, and dedication to building partnerships both within the community and alongside fellow law enforcement.
This promotion didn’t happen by chance—Sgt. Williams earned his new stripes after a panel interview with local law enforcement leaders and community members, making the selection process both collaborative and transparent.
Sheriff West shared, “It is with the utmost confidence that we promote Chris Williams to Sergeant. I have no doubt that the citizens of Meade County will be well served under his leadership as he helps guide this office into the future.”
