STURGIS, S.D. – Sturgis City Attorney Eric Davis gave Sturgis Council members an update on a report from American Legal Monday night.
The City’s contract agreement with American Legal included a legal review of the City’s Ordinances.
Davis says American Legal has a team of lawyers that review the city’s ordinances and determine problem areas to be addressed in approving the City Ordinance in American Legal format.
The City received the legal review last week.
Davis says the legal review was 60 pages that primarily cleans-up inconsistencies and problem areas of the city’s existing codes.
Davis says this is a big project.
Davis says he plans to meet with City Administrator Aaron Jordan and the newly formed Ordinance Committee to develop a plan of attack to bring to the council at a future meeting.
