Sturgis Council awards bids for airport projects

STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis City Council has awarded contracts for two big projects at Sturgis airport.

The airport is undertaking a $6 million dollar improvement project which includes a new terminal and parallel taxiway. With federal funding, the city will only be responsible for 3% of the costs.

Awarded the taxiway project was Western Construction Inc. of Rapid City. They had the low bid of $3,514,381.30. The City’s local share for this project, if applicable, will be covered through designated airport capital improvement funds.

American Contracting and Consulting of Belle Fourche was awarded the new terminal project with a bid of $280,585. The City’s local share for the terminal project, if applicable, will be covered through designated airport capital improvement funds.
