STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Council this week approved accepting a $292,669 bid to repair the roof at the Sturgis Community Center and City Hall.

The roofs were damaged in a 2019 severe thunderstorm.

Following the event, the city filed a property damage claim, which was approved, authorizing repair and replacement as part of the  City’s insured coverage.

Sturgis Public Works Director Rick Bush says Upper Deck Architecture and Design prepared the project plans, specifications and bid documents necessary for the roof repairs.

Bush says the low bid was submitted by Black Hills Roofing.

Bush says this recommendation ensures that the project will be completed in a cost-effective manner.

The total project cost will be $330,342 when the $37,673 professional services agreement is added.
