STURGIS, S.D. — The Sturgis Scoopers boys basketball team will be looking for a new coach next season.

Head coach Dan Skinner has announced his resignation from coaching and teaching in the Meade 46-1 School District as of the end of the school year.

Skinner was head coach for two seasons, where he turned in a record of 17 wins and 24 losses. His team made the SoDak 16 this year as the 12th seed.

Skinner says he is leaving the district after accepting a position at Rapid City Stevens High School.

He told the Black Hills Pioneer that “If a position as an assistant coach comes available down the road, when the time is right, I would consider it.”

Skinner’s resignation was formally submitted to the Meade School Board at its April 14 meeting, and will take effect at the end of the current school year.
