PIERRE—The Rapid City Stevens boys’ soccer team scored two goals in the opening 10 minutes and added a critical third late in the second half to secure a 3-1 victory over Pierre on Friday, extending their perfect record to 5-0.

The Raiders’ offense was clinical, with all three goals coming from well-placed passes that set up perfect scoring opportunities. Trent Policky found the back of the net in the eighth minute, followed just two minutes later by Matthew Grubic. Both goals were a result of stellar crossing passes into the box from teammates Miles Wright and Everett Mockabee, respectively.

Pierre’s lone goal came in the 43rd minute from Hekmat Ghaznavi, who capitalized on a free kick to make the score 2-1 before halftime.

The Goveros pressed for an equalizer in the second half, especially after Stevens was forced to play a man down due to a red card in the 54th minute. However, the Raiders’ defense held strong, anchored by keeper Creed Tennyson, who finished the day with eight saves.

With Pierre pushing forward, Stevens delivered the final blow in the 70th minute when Ravi Moreland scored the Raiders’ third goal off a perfect setup pass from Josh Mueller, sealing the 3-1 victory. Pierre’s goalkeeper, Carter Templeton, recorded six saves in the loss.
