RAPID CITY, S.D. – More than 500 athletes and Unified partners from across the Black Hills will gather in Rapid City this weekend for the annual Black Hills Area Bowling Tournament, hosted by Special Olympics South Dakota at Meadowood Lanes.
The two-day event begins Friday, Oct. 10, with the Traditional Bowling Tournament, featuring Special Olympics athletes competing from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The competition continues Saturday, Oct. 11, with the Unified Bowling Tournament, where athletes with and without intellectual disabilities team up from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The tournament serves as a key regional qualifier leading up to the state events: the State Traditional Bowling Tournament in Aberdeen, Oct. 31–Nov. 2, and the State Unified Bowling Tournament in Sioux Falls, Nov. 8–9.
Spectators are encouraged to attend and cheer on participants at Meadowood Lanes in Rapid City.
