RAPID CITY, SD – Golden Ticket Cinemas announced plans to build a new movie theater in Rapid City, South Dakota, as part of the Liberty Land USA development. The proposed cinema would be the first new movie facility built in the city in nearly 30 years and would introduce the state’s first IMAX theatre.

The new theater is designed to include a number of premium amenities, according to a press release from Golden Ticket Cinemas. The proposed IMAX auditorium will feature 4K laser projection and immersive sound, along with the largest floor-to-ceiling screen in the state. The plans also include a Golden Ticket Cinemas ELITE auditorium with Dolby Atmos sound.

Every auditorium will have luxury recliners. The concessions will feature unlimited popcorn, a self-serve beverage wall, and a new food menu.

The Liberty Land USA location would be Golden Ticket Cinemas’ second theater in Rapid City and its third in the state of South Dakota. The company’s expansion reflects its continued investment in the Black Hills area.

“We’re thrilled to be working on plans for this project,” said John Bloemeke, CEO of Golden Ticket Cinemas. “This theater will not only bring a world-class movie complex to visitors, but also to the supportive community here in Rapid City. We’re honored to explore opportunities to grow alongside this city and look forward to making it a destination for unforgettable movie experiences.”

Darren Sloniger, the master developer of Liberty Land, said that a tax increment financing (TIF) district is making the new theater possible. The Rapid City Council recently approved a TIF district to help fund the broader Liberty Land USA development.
