UNDATED – South Dakota holds the lowest unemployment rate in the nation—just 1.8 percent in April.
That’s according to new numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The state added hundreds of workers in key sectors, such as tourism, construction, and business services, while unemployment claims decreased.
Neighboring states like North Dakota and Minnesota saw higher jobless rates, but South Dakota’s labor market continues to lead the nation.
Economists say national trends could still bring challenges later this year, but for now, the state’s workforce remains strong.
