PIERRE – The South Dakota State Library, a division of the South Dakota Department of Education, has announced the 2025-2028 recipients of the School Achievement Through Libraries (SATL) Award.
The SATL Award recognizes South Dakota school libraries that demonstrate exemplary and accomplished practice in program, place, and professional aspects of librarianship. The award is a replacement for the former 21st Century School Library Award and is valid for a three-year period.
According to Scottie Bruch, SDSL Training Coordinator, the awards highlight the essential role libraries play in student achievement and lifelong learning. Highly effective school libraries support students by encouraging reading, developing research skills, teaching ethical digital citizenship, and promoting a culture of literacy.
