SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Beef will be “what’s for dinner” for thousands of South Dakotans in need, thanks to a delivery of a $100,000 worth of all-beef hotdogs to Feeding South Dakota on Thursday, May 1.
The donation, made possible by South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation (SDCF) in partnership with Jorgensen Land & Cattle of Ideal, South Dakota, filled an entire semi-truck with 23,000 pounds of all-beef hotdogs on the first day of National Beef Month.
The all-beef hotdogs will provide essential protein to families and thousands of individuals facing food insecurity across the state through Feeding South Dakota’s programs.
“Donations like this are vital to our efforts, especially as we work to meet the continuous rise of people needing food assistance,” said Lori Dykstra, CEO of Feeding South Dakota. “We are incredibly grateful for this support for us to continue making a difference.”
This partnership with Jorgensen Land & Cattle is a prime example of South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation’s mission to facilitate the generosity of South Dakota’s beef industry.
“Jorgensen Land & Cattle is a staple and exemplary seedstock operation in South Dakota,” said Ryan Eichler, president of the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation. “The opportunity to partner with them in this donation to Feeding South Dakota is so meaningful in providing critically needed protein to those who need it most. The role of beef in a healthy diet is proven, and we’re committed to continuing to find ways to increase access to high-quality nutrition for South Dakotans in need.”
The donation was officially presented by Ryan Eichler, president of the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation, and Nick Jorgensen, CEO/CFO of Jorgensen Land & Cattle, during a media event Thursday morning at Feeding South Dakota headquarters.
“Going into summer 2025, we hope this donation of high-quality all-beef hotdogs will provide a healthier eating alternative to those in need,” said Nick Jorgensen. “The ability to help our neighbors through well-established partners like Feeding South Dakota and the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation was a key factor in our decision to make this donation.”
