SUNDANCE, Wyo. – The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office in South Dakota and the Crook County Sheriff’s Office in Wyoming are involved in the search for a St Onge woman who has been missing since Monday.
According to a press release, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office received a welfare check request from a family member of 65-year-old Linda Thacker of St Onge. A family member says Thacker has been out of contact with them since Monday, August 18.
Through the use of technology and cooperation with the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, Thacker’s vehicle was located in a remote area near the South Dakota-Wyoming border.
Since the evening of August 19, a coordinated search and investigation into her whereabouts has been underway. The operation involves a number of agencies including search and rescue from Spearfish, Crook County, Lawrence County, Weston County and Sheridan County in Wyoming as well as the South Dakota National Guard, Lawrence and Crook County Emergency Management and canine units from across Wyoming.
The search remains active and ongoing.
