SUNDANCE, Wyo. – In a release Thursday, the Crook County Sheriff’s Office in Wyoming announced they have suspended the active search for a missing St Onge woman.
The Sheriff’s Office says their decision to end the search for Linda Thacker was made after “extensive operations yielded no additional evidence to support her continued presence in the area.”
Thacker’s family had reported her missing on August 18th.
The sheriff’s office says “at this stage in the search for Linda Thacker, we have made the difficult decision to suspend active search operations in Boundary Gulch as of 0800 hours on August 28th. This decision does not mark the end of our efforts—our investigation remains ongoing.”
Thacker’s vehicle was found in the Boundary Gulch area, near the Wyoming and South Dakota state line.
According to the sheriff’s office, there was an extensive effort using several search and rescue teams, helicopters, K-9 teams, drones and human trackers from various Wyoming and South Dakota agencies.
Authorities say the search may be resumed if credible information is received indicating that she may still be within or near the Boundary Gulch region.”
