BOX ELDER, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), in collaboration with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), will hold an in-person public meeting open house on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. (MT). The public meeting open house is designed to inform area residents of the intent to pursue an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Interstate 90 (exits 61-67) project based on the study recommendations.
The public meeting will be held at the Box Elder Community Center, located at 420 Villa Dr. in Box Elder. The open house will be informal, allowing for one-on-one discussions with design and environmental staff. A short presentation will be given at the beginning of meeting.
Representatives from SDDOT will be available to answer questions, discuss the initiation of the EA per the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and receive community input. Information about resurfacing and reconstruction of I-90 eastbound and westbound lanes, reconstruction of the exit 63 interchange, and improvements to drainage, floodplains, and bridge structures will be available.
Individuals needing assistance, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should contact the SDDOT ADA Coordinator (605-773-3540) two business days prior to the meeting in order to ensure accommodations are available. For any in-person meeting, notice is further given to individuals with disabilities that the meeting is being held in a physically accessible location.
