RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Sturgis Scoopers tied the Rapid City Stevens Raiders 3-3 in a boys soccer match Tuesday night, coming back twice in the second half.
The Scoopers, with a 2-2-1 record, only took eight shots in the contest, four of which were on target. Three of their four shots on goal came from free kicks after fouls from Stevens. Two of those free kicks found the back of the net, thanks to goals from Graden Glodt and Hampus Westlund.
Jaxon Dodson scored the tying goal for Sturgis in the 77th minute on a breakaway.
The tie was just the second time Sturgis has not lost to Stevens in 13 meetings since soccer was sanctioned in South Dakota in 2014.
For the Raiders, now 5-1-1 on the season, Josh Mueller scored two goals, including a penalty kick in the 72nd minute that briefly put Stevens ahead 3-2. Ravi Moreland also scored for Stevens.
Oliver Kristensen had seven saves for Sturgis.
