STURGIS, SD – The Sturgis Scooper volleyball team took care of business Thursday night at West Gym, sweeping the Lead Deadwood Golddiggers, 3–0.
Set one was tied at 10 points each midway through the set, until Sturgis out scored the Golddiggers 15 to 6 to earn a 25–16 victory, ending with a Bryley Peterson kill.
The Scoopers were down by four points to Lead Deadwood late in set two, then went on a 10-1 run to take set two, 25–20.
Set three was all Sturgis as the Scoopers dominated the Golddiggers, 25–8 to win the set and the match.
Sturgis (7-13) was led by Peterson with 10 kills. Brinley Heikes had 13 assists and Hayden Larson added five aces. Lead Deadwood (9-17) was led by Nikiah Black with five kills.
The Scoopers are in action next on Tuesday, as they travel to Rapid City to take on the Rapid City Christian Lady Comets.
