RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Badlands Sabres started their 2025-26 season with a 3-2 victory over the Sheridan Hawks at the Roosevelt Park Ice Arena. The game was the first of the new season for the NA3HL teams.
The Sabres jumped to an early lead in the first period. Dayton Niedert scored the first goal of the season for Badlands at 3:30, assisted by Matthew Cordis. Later in the period, Peyton Kostad made it 2-0 with a goal at 11:58, with assists from Niedert and Wyatt Pink.
The Sheridan Hawks responded in the second period, scoring two goals to tie the game. Their first goal came at 6:39, followed by the second at 11:37.
With the game tied 2-2, the Sabres regained the lead. Justin Reams found the back of the net at 11:55 in the second period, assisted by Rhylan Olson and Patrick Gosselin.
Both teams battled through a scoreless third period. The Sabres held on to their 3-2 lead, securing the win in their home opener.
The two teams will face off again in Rapid City tonight at the Roosevelt Park Ice Arena, with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
