Rapid City, SD A win could not be found for the Rapid City Rush in the first of a three-game series with the Tahoe Knight Monsters at The Monument. Jake McGrew (O’Leary, Taylor ) netted Tahoes 5th goal at 5:12 of overtime for the win.
Tahoe started strong with goals by Stanick (Bailey) and Laskosky (Cholach, Pitters) before the halfway point of the first period . A hooking call on Cholach with only 50 seconds left in the period afforded Rapid City the opportunity to end the power play blight. At 19:23 Ryan Wagner (Constantinou, Bennett) did just that ending the first period 2-1.
Carter Wilkie (Mack, Wagner) tied the game within 39 seconds of the second period.
Cameron Buhl’s short-handed goal at 2:05 gave the Rush their first lead of the game. Bennett (Pauls, Wagner) scored the insurance goal at 1941 of the second period. The Rush lead 4-2 coming into the 3rd period.
A quick Luke Adam (McGrew) goal at 1:31 into the third period intensified the play. At 16:21 Trent Swick evened the score.
At 5:12 of regulation 7 minute overtime the Knight Monsters win.
Rapid City Rush meet the Tahoe Knight Monsters again Friday November 7th at the Monument. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. MST.
