Rush Get Swept by the Kansas City Mavericks

The Rapid City Rush lost a two-game series against the Kansas City Mavericks,  folding 6-3 in front of 3,522 at The Monument on November 22nd.

Kansas City scored right out of the gate with a Carpenter (McCallum, Crawford) goal at 18:47. McCallum for the Mavericks took a 2 minute call for hooking at 15:28.

 Rapid City’s Bowman took a cross checking minor at 12:52 offering Kansas City the power play. Cotton (Crawford, Jutting) cashed that check within 8 seconds at 12:44.

 Buhl (Ekstrom) connected at 6:17 to put Rapid City on the board.

 Mavericks, McLaughlin received a 2 minute hooking penalty at 10:31. 

The first period ended 2-1 in favor of Kansas City. 

The Mavericks scored the only goal of a penalty filled second period at 18:25 by Carreau (Cotton, Sullivan).  Following are the 2nd period penalties:

18:10 Russell (RC) – 2 minutes for cross checking 

13:40 Pow (KC) – 2 minutes for slashing 

6:49 Pow (KC) – 2 minutes for cross- checking 

2:52 McLaughlin (KC) – 2 minutes for tripping 

0:00 Crawford (KC) – 2 minutes for roughing 

0:00 Chyzowski (RC) – 2 minutes for roughing

The Rush scored the first goal of the third period with an Olson( Pauls, Russell) lamplighter at 14:33. Kansas City answered back at 11:38 from Berezowski (Carreau, McLaughlin).

At 9:57 Janicke for Kansas City received a 2-minute minor for roughing, while Rapid City’s Russell received a 4-minute double roughing call. 

Ryan Wagner found the net for the Rush at 7:53.

Berezowski took a 2-minute high sticking call for the Mavericks at 4:45 

Kansas City sealed the game with two consecutive empty net goals Crawford ( McCallum) at 1:40 and Carew at 1:12. 

The Rapid City Rush host the Idaho Steelheads for a three game series starting Wednesday November 26th. Puck drops at 7:05 PM MDT.
