PIERRE, S.D. – Governor Larry Rhoden has appointed Annie Hoffman as a circuit judge for the Second Circuit, filling the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Doug Hoffman. The Second Circuit includes Minnehaha and Lincoln counties.
Annie Hoffman, a native of Lennox, graduated from Luther College in 2005 and from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2008. Her career includes a period with the general counsel of the U.S. Senate in Washington, D.C., followed by work in Sioux Falls with the law firm of Myers & Billion. Since 2012, she has served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of South Dakota.
In a statement released by the governor’s office, Governor Rhoden said, “Annie is an exceptional lawyer who is concise, thoughtful, and possesses deep intellect. The people of South Dakota will be well-served by her.”
Annie Hoffman also expressed gratitude for the appointment. “I am humbled and deeply honored to accept Governor Rhoden’s appointment, and I am very grateful to him,” she said in the same release. “I am committed to the rule of law and will apply the law fairly and impartially. I look forward to continuing my career in public service and serving the people of South Dakota in this role.”
