RAPID CITY, S.D. – The latest report regarding gunshots being heard in Rapid City occurred Thursday night.
Police say at around 7:30 p.m. on July 10th, police were dispatched to the area of I-190 and Omaha Street for a report of gunshots heard in the area.
After speaking to witnesses, police learned the suspect had approached an improvised outdoor camp underneath the north portion of the I-190 bridge over Rapid Creek before brandishing a firearm and getting into a disturbance with a group of people at the location.
The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Latrell Tayle of Rapid City, and witnesses told police he had departed the improvised camp shortly before the gunshots rang out.
Tayle was located a short time later in the area of West Boulevard and Kansas City Street. He was detained without incident.
During a search of the area, police located a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting incident.
Tayle was placed under arrest for five counts of Aggravated Assault and subsequently transported to the Pennington County Jail.
No injuries were reported as a result of the gunshots, and police continue to investigate the incident.
