RAPID CITY, SD — Police are seeking information on a suspect in an ongoing breaking and entering case.

The incident occurred at 1:50am on September 16th, and saw police dispatched to the Maverick Convenience Store at 1624 Haines Avenue. In recovered security footage, “police observed two males approach the business before one of them threw a rock through the glass door. Both entered the business and exited with cases of beer before departing the area. A third individual was also seen entering the store, grabbing several cans of beer before also leaving the area,” said RCPD Representative Brendyn Medina.

Following a patrol conducted by the RCPD following the incident, officers observed a group of individuals in a parking lot with an open case of beer. Police initiated contact with the group, beginning a prolonged pursuit as individuals “got up and ran”. During this chase, one juvenile was detained, however both of the other suspects were able to flee the scene.

Later in the morning, police were dispatched in response to reports of a suspicious individual attempting to enter a residence. Upon arrival, police were able to identify 24-year-old Joseph Arpan by clothing as one of the individuals who had taken several cans of beer in the theft, arresting him for third degree burglary.

The third individual (pictured above) has not been detained at this time, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact police at 605-394-4131. An anonymous tip can also be submitted by texting the letters ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.
