RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office say they are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday night.
Police say just before 9:00 p.m. on February 23rd, they were called to 815 E. New York St. for a report of two people that had been shot inside a residence.
Police arrived and found two victims who were transported to the hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries. The female suspect was located attempting to hide nearby, and she has been detained at this time. It is believed the victims and suspect are known to one another, and this was not random in nature.
Police have since been notified that one of the gunshot victims has died as a result of injuries sustained in the shooting. His identity is being withheld until proper notification of next of kin can be accomplished.
The RCPD and PSCO continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and will provide updates as appropriate.
