A new limited series hosted by South Dakota’s Lieutenant Governor and HomeSlice’s Murdoc

We’re pretty excited to launch this series! Welcome to Running Mates, an idea that was hatched from another show in our network, Dakota Town Hall. Every week for the last three years, you can read, hear, or see an hour of weekly South Dakota Politics. When we first launched the show three years ago, we started doing a series of historical episodes with then-Representative Tony Venhuizen. He has now been dubbed the Show Historian. (and then was also promoted to another role)

It would be harder to find a better historical perspective than Tony. For those of you who don’t know, he’s the author of The Governors of South Dakota and runs the website of sodakgovs.com.

Months ago, Murdoc and Tony had been talking about some of their favorite history shows, which led to kicking around doing a version of a presidential election series. We also couldn’t stop laughing at the thought of the following graphic:

So far, we have six in the can and we expect the series to last 12 episodes. But just like national politics… We’ll see. 😉

At the Rapid City Post, we’re celebrating America’s birthday by sharing with you a historical series about the leaders and events that have shaped us to where we are today. In this episode, we start at the very beginning. You wouldn’t even call it an election.

Dakota Town Hall proudly presents: Running Mates. Episode 1:
