RAPID CITY, S.D. – The YMCA of Rapid City is partnering with the LiveSTRONG Foundation to offer a free 12-week program designed to help adult cancer survivors regain their physical and emotional well-being. The LiveSTRONG at the YMCA program is a research-based initiative that focuses on overall health, not just the disease.
The program includes a free 12-week YMCA membership for the survivor and a caregiver. Participants will work with YMCA staff who are trained in supportive cancer care to help them achieve their goals. The curriculum focuses on building strength, increasing endurance, and improving flexibility and self-esteem.
Sessions begin on September 9 and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-3:30 p.m. at the YMCA Wellness Center, 815 Kansas City Street. The program runs through December 2.
Those interested in the program can contact Nicole Craig at 605-718-9622, email nicolec@rcymca.org, or register online at rcymca.org. The program is open to anyone 14 and older.
