RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Hall of Fame is set to honor a new class of inductees for 2025, and among them are several individuals with significant ties to Rapid City and the Black Hills region. The induction ceremony will take place this weekend in Chamberlain, celebrating those who have made substantial contributions to the state.
According to a statement from Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun, this year’s class includes four inductees with strong connections to the city: John Brockelsby, Dr. Valentine McGillycuddy, Dr. Mark Harlow, and David Wayne Snyder. Mayor Salamun praised their “immeasurable contributions” to the development and growth of Rapid City and South Dakota.
“Each year, the South Dakota Hall of Fame class reads like a who’s who list of movers and shakers,” Mayor Salamun said. “People who have greatly influenced and impacted the state.”
The mayor highlighted the legacies of the local inductees, noting their impact on the city’s founding and growth, promoting the area, and improving the quality of life for its citizens. The formal induction ceremonies are scheduled for Friday and Saturday as part of the Honors Ceremony weekend.
